About CATA Sri Lanka
The China Aid Training Alumni (CATA) Sri Lanka was officially formed in January 2025 by Sri Lankan participants of various China Aid capacity-building programs. We operate as a voluntary social service organization registered under the Voluntary Social Services Organizations (Registration and Supervision) Act No. 31 of 1980.
Our Objectives

Build Social & Professional Networks
Sponsor, initiate and develop social and professional networks for alumni and the general public.
Promote Education Partnerships
Promote Chinese tertiary education and education partnerships in Sri Lanka.
Strengthen People-to-People Ties
Foster stronger people-to-people ties between Sri Lanka and China.
Raise Funds & Resources
Raise funds and resources for alumni activities, including climate action and disaster resilience.
Advance Lawful Initiatives
Undertake any lawful activities that advance our objectives.
Governance
CATA is governed by its approved Governance Charter (Constitution), unanimously adopted on 14 August 2025. The Steering Committee consists of ten alumni members plus one representative from the Chinese Embassy in Colombo. Office bearers include the President, two Vice Presidents, Secretary, Vice Secretary, Treasurer, and other necessary positions.
Membership
Membership is open exclusively to Sri Lankans who have received short-term or long-term scholarships/training in Chinese institutions. Applications are submitted via email with proof of alumni status. We currently have active members from diverse fields including poverty reduction, rural development, economics, finance, and digital technologies.
